REVIVE

“Revival begins with distress and conviction.” –Iain Murray

This writing has a purpose. The goal is to challenge not only you, but myself; to discover and connect with truth. My challenge to you as the reader: Live on purpose, with a purpose, for a purpose—for the God who gives mission and purpose its strength. As I write, I am taking for granted that you know the Gospel. Forgive me for getting right to the point: The Gospel is central—and I pray it will remain so—in all of this writing. My encouragement to you is not to tire from “THE GOSPEL” or grow weary of its POWER. Not only should you not be ashamed of it, “…it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes….” (Romans 1:16) DO NOT STOP BELIEVING ITS POWER (.)

What is this power? This Gospel is powerful, eternal, life-giving truth, and the truth cannot help but affect YOU. The fruit of this power is: life granting, life sustaining, hopeful living, faith building–LIFE CHANGING. In former days, the Gospel had an edge for “roots” and falsehoods. I do not believe it’s ability to “cut” and to “build” is lost. It is my prayer that we, as Christians, live with this trajectorial thinking and believing.

Our culture is in distress, our world is being shaken–I pray the Lord meets you on “the threshing floor”. Good things happen when the wheat is flailed: the grain is available to be refined, and sometimes the Lord meets with us in profound ways. “Now the angel of the Lord came and sat under the teribinth tree…while his son Gideon was beating out the grain” (Judges 6:11)

Gideon was in distress. He abandoned the threshing floor out of fear, but he continued with his labors in a winepress doing the same job…. This blog is an “untraditional” way of communicating, compared to last generations. However, it will be perpetuated in faith and anticipation of what good God may do with planted seeds. A friend communicated to me recently, saying, “The problem with today’s writing and its loss of lasting effect, it is that people are not writing beyond todays periphery.” Challenge accepted.

When Abraham looked up at the stars, He took God at his Word and in faith he saw his descendants! When I look up at the night sky and when I write, I see you in faith and am praying for you. The Gospel gives me hope. The promises of God give me strength. The very stars in the sky tell me that I need to live beyond “now” and sow to the future—“amongst the stars” and write for the glory of God. Ruth laid herself at Boaz’ feet on the threshing floor. My hope is that these truths, will lead you to worship and lay your head down also, at the feet of Jesus.

I hope this page encourages you. Augustine wrote his confessions, and this, in a way, this will be a continual “confession” of “Abundant Life-giving” truths–the same ones that Jesus offers each one of His followers. Because it is my belief that revival begins small, what better way than to begin on “The Threshing Floor” and hope?

Enjoy your stay, and may God be glorified,

Michael Morden
